Parameters and configurations

Named parameters and expressions

A project can define named parameters holding numbers or expressions. Any numeric field (a feature distance, a sketch constraint, a placement offset) can reference them, so a small set of values drives the whole model.

  • Manage them from the Parameters panel.
  • Expressions support math plus references to other parameters and to sketch dimension aliases (d1, d2, see Sketching).
  • The solver tracks dependencies, detects cycles, and rebuilds the affected geometry when a value changes.

Configurations and variants

Configurations let one project hold several named variants without duplicating the model tree. Each one overrides parameter values and feature suppression (force on, force off, or inherit).

  • Manage them from the Configurations panel in the sidebar tree.
  • Switching the active configuration rebuilds that variant.
  • Compare two side by side: volume, mass, bounding box, and the parameters and features that differ.
  • Batch export produces one file per configuration in a single archive.
